Gabriel Bernardo (http://gabrielbernardo.com/index.html) holds a BSc ("Licenciatura") and a MSc in Chemistry from the University of Porto and a PhD in Materials Science (Polymer materials) awarded by the University of Oxford in 2005. After the PhD, he gained postdoctoral experience at New University of Lisbon (2005-2006) and at Technical University of Lisbon (IST) (2006-2009). From July 2009 to June 2015, he worked as Assistant Researcher in the Institute for Polymers and Composites (IPC), Polymer Engineering department at the University of Minho. Meanwhile, from October 2010 to March 2011, he was a Fulbright Scholar in the School of Materials Science and Engineering at Georgia Institute of Technology (GeorgiaTech) in Atlanta, USA. From 2015-2017 he was a Marie Sklodowska-Curie (MSC) individual fellow at the University of Sheffield (Physics department) and at the ISIS Neutron Spallation Source at Rutherford Appleton Laboratory (RAL). During his MSC fellowship he specialized in the use of neutron scattering techniques to probe nano-structures ranging from several hundred nm to ~1 nm. After returning to Portugal, he joined the group of Prof Adélio Mendes at LEPABE, department of Chemical Engineering at University of Porto. He is currently an Assistant Researcher (individual CEEC) at LEPABE and he does research with a focus on Goal 7 of Agenda 2030 - "Ensure access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy for all": (https://doi.org/10.54499/CEECIND/02039/2018/CP1535/CT0001). Gabriel Bernardo published 63 articles in peer-reviewed international journals (h-index: 18) and 2 book chapters. He supervised 2 PhD students and 20 master students. He has performed referee work to more than 15 different international scientific journals including high-ranked journals such as "Nature Communications", "Solar RRL" and "Advanced Functional Materials" among others.
