Gabriel Bernardo (http://gabrielbernardo.com/index.html) holds a BSc ("Licenciatura") and a MSc in Chemistry from the University of Porto and a PhD in Materials Science (Polymer materials) awarded by the University of Oxford in November 2005. After the PhD, he gained postdoctoral experience in the department of Materials Science at New University of Lisbon (2005-2006) and in the department of Chemical Engineering at Technical University of Lisbon (IST) (2006-2009). From July 2009 to June 2015, he worked as Assistant Researcher in the Institute for Polymers and Composites (IPC), Polymer Engineering department at the University of Minho. Meanwhile, in 2010 he was awarded a Fulbright scholarship that led him to the School of Materials Science and Engineering at Georgia Institute of Technology (Atlanta, USA), where he worked from October 2010 to March 2011. In 2015 he was awarded a Marie Sklodowska-Curie (MSC) individual fellowship, by the European Commission, that led him to the U.K. where he worked for 2 years in the department of Physics at the University of Sheffield and in the ISIS Neutron Spallation Source at Rutherford Appleton Laboratory. During his MSC fellowship he specialized in the use of neutron scattering techniques to probe nano-structures. Gabriel Bernardo is currently working at LEPABE and he has been recently awarded an Assistant Researcher position in the Portuguese 2018 FCT Individual Call to Scientific Employment (CEEC). Dr Bernardo has published 58 articles in peer-reviewed international journals (h-index: 16) and 2 book chapters. He has supervised 2 PhD students and 16 master students.
