Inês Mansinhos is a PhD candidate in Biotechnological Sciences, specializing in Plant Biotechnology, at the Faculty of Sciences and Technology, University of Algarve, and a member of the Mediterranean Institute for Agriculture, Environment and Development (MED/UAlg). She holds a BSc in Biotechnology from the Polytechnic Institute of Coimbra (2014) and an MSc in Biochemistry from the University of Coimbra (2017). She has completed her doctoral research and is currently awaiting thesis defense. To date, she has authored 15 peer-reviewed scientific papers and 6 invited book chapters, and has delivered more than 25 oral and poster presentations at national and international conferences. She also serves as a peer reviewer for multiple international journals. Her research focuses on the responses of medicinal and aromatic plants to climate change and sustainable agricultural practices, with particular emphasis on the effects of abiotic and biotic stresses on plant secondary metabolism, especially phenolic compounds and essential oils. She employs biotechnological strategies to modulate plant secondary metabolism and is developing green extraction techniques for bioactive compounds, while also investigating their biological activities and potential industrial applications.
