Cláudia Leopoldina Mieiro completed her PhD in Chemistry in 2011/03/14 at the University of Aveiro, MSc in Ecology in 2001/06/19 at the University of Coimbra Faculdade de Ciencias e Tecnologia and Graduation in Biology in 1997/09/17 at the University of Coimbra Faculdade de Ciencias e Tecnologia. She has a post-graduation in Planning, Urbanism and Environmental Law (Univ. Coimbra) and a Course in Laboratory Animals Sciences-Aquatic Organisms obtaining the category C accreditation (FELASA). Presently, she is a Researcher at the Centro de Estudos do Ambiente e do Mar (CESAM), University of Aveiro. Published 40 articles in ISI journals (94% in the top 25% journals, 33% with international collaboration) and organized 11 events (workshops, seminars, school activities, summer school). She started her research line - Reprotoxicity of emerging contaminants, within the FisoTox lab, where she supervises 2 PhD students (1 co-supervisor, UPV/Spain), 2 BSc students, and 3 MSc fellows (1 from UNINA/IT). She supervised 2 postdocs, 1 PhD student internship (UCAR/TN), 1 MSc fellow, 2 MSc students (1 co-supervision, UPV), 14 BSc students, 3 Erasmus+, and mentored 2 MSc students. Has received 1 award and 1 honour. She is a team member in 2 projects, one as task coordinator (1 FCT and 1 Horizon Europe Widening project) and participated as Principal investigator in 1 project and as a team member in 4 projects (task coordinator in 2). Participated as examiner in 3 PhD juries, 2 as main arguer, 4 MSc (main arguer), and 3 BSc (main arguer). Since 2020, teaches General Physiology classes for 3 BSc degrees at the Department of Biology, University of Aveiro (UA) and lectured a class for the MSc in biology (UA, 2017). She is a member of the ICES-Working Group on Biological Effects of Contaminants and a member of the COST action PRIOTRITY (CA20101). She was interviewed for Hakai magazine (Canada) & UNDARK (USA) and has 1 podcast (Antena1). She works in the area(s) of Natural Sciences with emphasis on Earth and Environmental Sciences with emphasis on Reproductive Biology and Physiotoxicology. Her main scientific interests are personal care products (e.g. nanoparticles, UV filters); toxicity; bioaccumulation; biomarkers; mixtures; marine organisms; realistic concentrations; marine and estuarine ecosystems; external fertilization; sperm quality; mitochondrial function; DNA integrity and gametogenesis.
