Sérgio is a PhD student Electrical and Computers Engineering at FEUP. He is also an invited lecturer at the department of electrical engineering at FEUP and researcher in SYSTEC- Institute of Systems and Robotics - Porto (ISR). He received the Masters Degree with major in Automation and specialization in Robotics from the University of Porto. He joined the UPWIND project - A Multi-Kite System to Harvest High Altitude Wind Power, that aims for airborne wind energy systems, and later the project UPWind-ATOL : An Airborne Wind Energy System with Automatic Take-off and Landing capabilities. The main task here is to implement a controller for a kite, using an autopilot. The main results obtained in the project were - Adaption of UPWIND guidance algorithm on Ardupilot software; - Control and simulation of the kite with JSBsim and MATLAB; - Kite parts selection and assembly; - Ground station CAD design, parts selection and assembly; - General hardware and sensors selection; 3 kite prototypes used for Circular take-off and landing procedures.
