Beatriz Batista Cardoso. I graduated in Biochemistry at University of Minho in 2014. During the course I acquired a multidisciplinary training and skills that allow me to perform scientific and technical functions in different industries such as environment, pharmaceutical and food. In 2016, I completed a master's degree in Bioengineering (University of Minho), which allowed to redirect my knowledge for the resolution of problems related to industries incorporating biological processes and the development of biotechnological applications. Currently, I am attending the doctoral program in Chemical and Biological Engineering at Centre of Biological Engineering. My PhD thesis is focused on the development of novel yeast biocatalysts for the production of prebiotics. This work has already allowed me to extend my expertise in molecular and synthetic biology, namely in the genetic modification of S. cerevisiae. The assessment of the prebiotic effect of oligosaccharides and the formulation of functional foods are other lines of my research.
