Tiago Morais Ribeiro de Sousa holds a PhD in Philosophy in the field of Musical Aesthetics (with the thesis titled "The Aesthetic Experience of Music - From the Concept of Music to a Self-Referential Model of Aesthetic Judgment") from the University of Minho, completed in March 2022., and a Bachelor's degree in Philosophy from the same university. He also holds a Master's degree in Music Teaching from the University of Minho's Institute of Education, a Bachelor's degree in Music (Classical Guitar) from the University of Minho's Institute of Arts and Humanities, and a Bachelor's degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Porto's Faculty of Engineering. Currently, Tiago is a Professor at the University of Minho, teaching courses in Musical Aesthetics, Theatre Aesthetics, Architecture Aesthetics, Theory of Image, and Critical Thinking. He is also a researcher at the Center for Humanistic Studies at the same university and a classical guitar teacher at the Conservatório de Música de Gondomar. I have published in the field of musical aesthetics. Some of my articles include: "Descriptive Formalism and Evaluative Formalism in Kant's Theory of Music - A Response to Young," published in The Journal of Aesthetics and Art Criticism – Oxford (2023). "The Role of the Performer in Hanslick's 'On the Musically Beautiful'," featured in The British Journal of Aesthetics – Oxford Academic (2023). "Questioning the Formalist Facet of Kant’s Approach to Music – An Application to Mussorgsky, a Comparison with Hanslick, and a Response to Samantha Matherne," in Con-textos Kantianos International Journal of Philosophy (2023). "Was Hanslick a Closet Schopenhauerian?" also appearing in The British Journal of Aesthetics – Oxford Academic (2023). "The Quest for 'Authenticity': Three Performances of a Bach’s Fugue Compared," in Aisthesis: Pratiche, Linguaggi E Saperi Dell’Estetico (2016).
