Sofia Lynce has a profound interest in the study of oral language acquisition and development in deaf or hard-of-hearing children with cochlear implants, a subject that Sofia studied during her PhD in Cognition and Language Sciences at Universidade Católica Portuguesa (with a scholarship) and detailed in her dissertation. Sofia is also a researcher at the Center for Interdisciplinary Research in Health (CIIS) of Universidade Católica Portuguesa. Within her research work, Sofia published several articles in specialized magazines, including the article "Phonological development in Portuguese deaf children with cochlear implants: a preliminary study." Also, Sofia co-authored the book "Development of Oral Language in deaf children with Cochlear Implants" as a result of the research project CLIC (Cognition and Language in Portuguese Children with Cochlear Implants), in which Sofia was a research fellow. Moreover, Sofia participated in several scientific events, national and international, with posters and oral communications within the scope of oral language acquisition and development in deaf or hard-of-hearing children with cochlear implants. Since 2021, Sofia has been one of Hospital da Luz de Lisboa's Speech and Language pathologists in the otorhinolaryngology department. Since 2024, she has coordinated the Hearing Department of the Portuguese Society of Speech and Language Therapy. Sofia has a master's Degree in Clinical Linguistics from the Institute of Health Sciences of the Universidade Católica Portuguesa (2013) and a Speech and Language Therapy Degree from Egas Moniz Cooperativa de Ensino Superior CRL (2010).
