I hold a PhD in Historical Musicology from Universidade Nova de Lisboa and I am an Invited Assistant at the Faculty of Social and Human Sciences of said university. I am also a Researcher at the Institute for Literature and Tradition Studies, with a Post-Doc fellowship in the Project "RELIT-Rom Literary Revisions: the creative application of ancient novels (15th-18th centuries)", supported by the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT) and Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian. My PhD thesis, with the title "The German gaze: Music practice in Portugal at the end of the Ancien Régime according to German sources" (supervised by Rui Vieira Nery), was unanimously awarded the highest classification. I lived in Germany between 2003 and 2016 and created a NGO for the Portuguese community in Berlin. In this context, I was responsible for numerous cultural, social and humanitarian initiatives, both for their concept as for their funding, having been distinguished by several institutions for my work on behalf of the community. . . My main research interests are music in the 18th century, travelogues, early modern Portuguese and Spanish romancero, the intersection of music with gender, race and politics, women in music and transnational cultural networks. . . I am part of the project AVEMUS - Music in concertato style at the Real Mosteiro de São Bento da Avé-Maria do Porto (1764-1834), funded by FCT, which investigates the musical activity of the nuns of this Benedictine convent. I have published several peer-reviewed articles in scientific journals and I maintain an intense activity as a lecturer, both in national and international colloquiums of my scientific area, and at the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation and the National Theatre of São Carlos. . . I am responsible for the creation of the course "Women Composers: History of Female Composition", which I teach to undergraduate students at the New University of Lisbon, and I am an invited lecturer at the PhD in Gender Studies (ISCSP-ULISBOA, NOVA SCHOOL OF LAW and NOVA FCSH), with the module "Music and Gender" of the Advanced Themes Seminar. . . I was deputy Commissioner of the exhibition "Madalena de Azeredo Perdigão (1923-1989): let's take risks" at the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation between April and July 2023. Projects for 2024 include the publication of a book on Women Composers. . . I recently won a six-year contract as Principal Investigator, for my project “FEMUS 18 - Female Music Practice in 18th Century Portugal: spaces and Profiles of Women Making Music”, financed by the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT) under the 6th CEEC edition.
