Marisa Maia Machado is a professor at University of Aveiro and researcher at the Research Center on Didactics and Technology in the Education of Trainers (CIDTFF). She is holder of a PhD in Education, specialty in Diversity and Special Education. Her doctoral thesis Inclua was recognized with the Social and Human Sciences Award by the National Institute for Rehabilitation. This work served as the precursor to the first inclusive course in Portugal accessible to people with ID which was implemented at the University of Aveiro. Marisa Maia's passion for inclusive education stems from her experience as a teacher, which began in 2000, giving classes from basic education to higher education. In addition to her work in teaching and research, Marisa Maia has also given lectures, participated in congresses, and contributed to an international scientific projects. Her main areas of interest include inclusion, inclusive education, pedagogical training, inclusive pedagogy, universal design for learning, inclusive teaching in maths and sciences, disability, and lifelong learning.
