Vanessa Montesi holds a European PhD (summa cum laude) in Comparative Studies from the University of Lisbon, where she was an FCT scholarship holder. She is a member of the Centre for Comparative Studies (CEC) of the same university, where she integrates the group P'ARTE: Pensar Praticar Partilhar Perturbar Praticar Arte and a research assistant for the Dramaturgical Ecologies research group, based at Concordia University. Her research focuses on theatrical dance as a form of intermedial translation. She holds a BA in Modern Languages and Literature from the University of Bologna (Italy) and an MA in Translation Studies from the University of Sheffield (UK). During her studies she spent three months at the Russian State University for the Humanities in Moscow, two months as invited researcher at Newcastle University and five months as intern at Concordia University. Her research interests embrace translation, dance, and intermediality.
