Violeta M. Carvalho Fonseca is currently a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Minho. She completed the PhD in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Minho in April 2025, and the Integrated Master's in Biomedical Engineering in 2020 at the same University. Her area of expertise is in Biomaterials, Rehabilitation, and Biomechanics. During her Ph.D., she was an invited assistant in the Mechanical Engineering Department and the Production and Systems Department. Additionally, she was awarded a Fulbright Scholarship to conduct part of her PhD research at Shin's Lab (Harvard Medical School - Department of Medicine - Brigham and Women's Hospital), and the IMFAHE fellowship to conduct a short internship at the University of Toronto. Moreover, she was awarded an Education Fund from the Ted Rogers Centre for Heart Research to conduct a postdoc at the University of Toronto. Up to now, she has authored /co-authored 33 articles in journals, 9 book chapters, 2 books, and has 1 patent registered. Co-supervised 2 MSc dissertations, and has received 19 awards and/or honors.
