I received a Chemistry degree in 2007 and a master's degree in Applied Chemistry in 2008 from University of Évora. In 2008, I was granted a FCT grant (PTDC/EQUEQU/64842/2006) to work on porous materials for adsorption. In 2015, I completed my PhD [FCT grant (SFRH/BD/70543/2010)] in Chemistry from University of Évora. My PhD research was focused on carbon aerogels with amine surface functionality for the capture of carbon dioxide. As a researcher, I acquired expertise in porous material preparation, advanced characterization techniques, and carbon capture. My work resulted in the publication of 7 scientific papers (2008-2016) in international peer-reviewed journals, with 1 scientific paper published in Adsorption Science & Technology (doi.org/10.1260/0263-6174.31.2-3.223), dedicated to Professor K. Sing in honor of his contributions to adsorption work. In 2016 (4 months), in “Valorpneu-Sociedade de Gestão de Pneus”, I collaborated to validate methods referenced in the Standard (document EN 14243-2) prepared by the technical Commission CEN / TC 366 "Materials obtained from end-of-life tires (ELT)”. Between 2016-2017, I provided management support at KIC InnoEnergy - International Affairs Office, for the International Master Program (Clean Fossil Technologies and Alternative Fuels). Between 2017-2020, I started as a post-doctoral researcher at LARSyS (Laboratory of Robotics and Systems in Engineering and Science) in the Center for Innovation, Technology and Policy Research (IN+), Laboratory of Thermofluids, Combustion and Energy Systems, at Instituto Superior Técnico (IST), University of Lisbon. My research focused on the development of advanced porous materials, based on active catalytic surfaces, to improve knowledge in advanced fields of combustion. My work motivated the publication of advanced porous materials insights in Infrared Physics and Technology (doi.org/10.1016/j.infrared.2020.103614) and Diamond & Related Materials (doi.org/10.1016/j.diamond.2021.108274). This work allowed cooperation with the Centro de Química Estrutural (CQE) of IST, in collaboration with Prof. M.F. Montemor. Since 2020, I have worked as a project manager at c5Lab, Sustainable Construction Materials Association. Currently, my scientific research interest focuses on Carbon Utilisation - Green Fuels & Chemicals and coordinating a research team devoted to Power-to-Liquid technology implementation in the Portuguese cement industry. Previously (between July 2020 and September 2023), my scientific research interest focused on Carbon Capture and coordinating a research team devoted to Ca-looping technology applied to the Portuguese cement industry. The relevance of my work in Carbon Capture and Utilisation, applied in the decarbonisation of the cement industry, resulted in the publication of 5 scientific papers (2022-2024). In terms of research outputs, I have published 22 scientific papers (9 between 2021-2025) in international peer-reviewed journals (16) and international conference papers (6). I have presented 27 conference abstracts, 20 posters, and 14 oral communications at national/international scientific events. Also, I have supervised/mentored 20 students and researchers. Additionally, I have collaborated with researchers from PT (CQE/IST, Instituto Politécnico de Setúbal, Universidade Atlântica, Instituto de Bioengenharia e Biociências of IST, Laboratory for Bone Metabolism and Regeneration, Faculty of Dental Medicine and LAQV/REQUIMTE at University of Porto), USA (Massachusetts Institute of Technology), Italy (Turin Polytechnic Institute) and Sweden (Luleå University of Technology). In c5Lab, I applied as a team member to ECCSELERATE (2022) and ECCSELLENT (2025) Transnational programs for access to international infrastructure. The applications were for ZECOMIX (Zero Emission of Carbon with Mixed technologies) at ENEA, Italy. Currently, I serve as guest editor on a Special Topic at MDPI ( Process Optimization of Carbon Capture Technology).
