Carla Gama is an Atmospheric Sciences researcher, holding a Ph.D. in Environmental Sciences and Engineering from the University of Aveiro (2018), in collaboration with the Barcelona Supercomputing Center in Spain. Currently, she works at the Centre for Environmental and Marine Studies at the University of Aveiro. Her main skills are atmospheric modelling and data analysis. Carla has participated in several national and european funded projects. She is Principal Investigator of PRUNING - Mapping open burning of agricultural residues from Earth Observations and modelling of air quality impacts, and Co-Principal Investigator of ATLACE - ATLantic interactions via atmospheric water cycle: exploiting a unique dataset from the Antarctic Circumnavigation Expedition for a better understanding of clouds and precipitation. With over 40 articles published in journals like Tellus B, Environmental Research, and Science of the Total Environment, her research focuses on air quality, tropospheric ozone, atmospheric aerosols, and their interaction with clouds and precipitation. She’s also interested in long-range desert dust transport and the impact of weather events on air quality. Alongside her research, Carla enjoys teaching and mentoring aspiring scientists in Atmospheric Sciences.
