Carla Gama holds a Ph.D. in Environmental Sciences and Engineering from the University of Aveiro (2018), in collaboration with the Barcelona Supercomputing Center in Spain. She is currently a researcher at the Centre for Environmental and Marine Studies, University of Aveiro, and works in the area of Atmospheric Sciences. Carla has participated in several national and european funded projects. She is Principal Investigator of PRUNING - Mapping open burning of agricultural residues from Earth Observations and modelling of air quality impacts, and Co-Principal Investigator of ATLACE - ATLantic interactions via atmospheric water cycle: exploiting a unique dataset from the Antarctic Circumnavigation Expedition for a better understanding of clouds and precipitation. She has published more than 30 articles in international journals such as Tellus B, Environmental Research, Atmospheric Environment, Science of the Total Environment, and Air Quality, Atmosphere & Health. Her research interests include air quality, atmospheric modelling, tropospheric ozone, atmospheric aerosols, long-range transport of desert dust, and the impact of weather events on air quality.
