Alexandra das Neves is an Integrated Researcher at the Research Centre for Languages, Literatures and Cultures (CLLC) and a Collaborating Researcher at the Research Centre on Didactics and Technology in the Education of Trainers (CIDTFF), both funded by the Foundation for Science and Technology, Portugal) . She concluded her PhD Degree in Foreign Language Didactics (specialization in German FL) at the University of Aveiro - Portugal, in 2011, with the thesis entitled “Images of Languages and Affect in scholar context. A study regarding German”. She has a postgraduation in Foreign Language Didactics and a degree in Teaching German and English. She also is a collaborating member of the Laboratory of Education in Languages (LabELing). She has published several papers in international indexed journals, international book chapters and books. Peer esteem indicators include speaker invitations, organisation of international conferences and seminars. She has co-coordinated a research project and participated as a researcher in 4 research projects (2 international; 2 national). She has been supervising Masters' dissertation in Foreign Language Didactics and Languages and Business Relations. She has been lecturing curricular units in the Department of Languages and Cultures (DLC) and the Department of Education and Psychology (DEP) of the University of Aveiro in the area of German language and Foreign Language Didactics, supervised school practice of English and German teachers in Portuguese Secondary Schools and has been involved in the organisation of several teacher education events aimed at teachers from basic schooling to higher education in Portugal and Germany. She has collaborated with the Ministry of Education in Hamburg, in the ambit of the curriculum and didactic approaches and materials regarding migrants’ and refugees schooling, specifically regarding the learning of German as Second Language. Her research interests include German studies, Didactic for German and English, Innovation in Higher Education Language Learning and the development of plurilingual and intercultural competences in higher education.
