INÊS ARAÚJO RODRIGUES. Has mainly a background in natural sciences, holding a Bachelor’s (2021) and Master’s (2022) in Biochemistry from NOVA School of Science and Technology (FCT NOVA), with academic training spanning toxicology. Additionally, has explored other fields, gaining practical experience in artificial intelligence and machine learning through the Samsung Innovation Campus (2022), where developed an image-based model capable of accurately detecting plant health status and distinguishing between various plant diseases. Research experience has led to a published article in marine toxicology titled “Effects of Exposure to Urban Atmospheric Particulate Matter Suspended in Seawater on the Mussel Mytilus galloprovincialis”, and to national (AMBIEnCE Project Conference in Aveiro, and UCIBIO Workshop) and international (Biosystems in Toxicology and Pharmacology – Current challenges) conferences, including a poster presentation at the Portuguese Science Summit (2023). Earlier research includes, experience includes a 2023 internship at UCIBIO and CENIMAT working on bionanotechnology applications developing LFA-based malaria diagnostics and quantification with Raman spectroscopy), a research internship (2018) at CEDOC (studying VEGF-A quantification in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease patients), as a scientific consultant (July 2024, at INESC MN, focusing on Neurological Disease and Brain Machine Interface), scientific laboratory internship (April–June 2024 in the Advanced Sensor Interfaces and Circuits group at INESC MN, contributing to the Bactometer project, which aims to develop a miniaturized diagnostic system for infectious diseases). Currently, working as a researcher at INESC MN, contributing to the PRR Micro Project, developing battery components from clay. Other professional endeavers include, teaching and mentorship to 8th and 9th grades, and at the university level supervising undergraduate students in the laboratory as they conducted their final-year research projects.
