Vitor Sousa holds a degree in Biochesmitry (2018), a master in Biotechnology (2020) and Ph.D. in Chemical and Biological Engineering from the University of Minho. Over the past years, he acquired technical competences and tools on photosynthetic microorganisms' cultivation and on exploring their potential applications. Drawing on his background and expertise, Vitor´s work is focused on growth optimization, the development of innovative growth strategies, and the overproduction of microalgal-derived biocompounds and in the analytical determination of the produced biocompounds by HPLC or GC. He also has experience in the processing of biological biomass, with a focus on the application of emergent and efficient methodologies such as ohmic heating, ionic liquids or pressurized liquid extraction for the extraction of bioactive compounds. The knowledge and expertise gathered throughout his professional path are reflected on 9 communications in (inter)national conferences and 7 publications in peer-review journals.
