Rui P. P. L. Ribeiro graduated in Physics and Chemistry for Teaching at the University of Porto/Faculty of Sciences (FCUP) in 2005. In March 2013, he concluded his PhD in Chemical and Biological Engineering at the Laboratory of Separation and Reaction Engineering (LSRE) - University of Porto/Faculty of Engineering (FEUP). Between May 2013 and 2018, Rui Ribeiro worked as a postdoctoral researcher at LAQV@REQUIMTE - FCT/NOVA (NOVA School of Sciences and Technology) and between 2019 and 2023, Rui Ribeiro was hired as researcher under the Norma Transitória DL 57/2016 - Law 57/2017 at FCT/NOVA. Rui Ribeiro is now Lead Researcher of the Separation and Conversion Processes team at HyLab - Colaborative Laboratory on Green Hydrogen. R. P. P. L. Ribeiro has published 39 peer-reviewed articles in international journals (11 as corresponding author; 14 as first author), 1 book chapter, 1 editorial, 1 conference paper and 1 paper in Boletim da Sociedade Portuguesa de Química. R.P.P.L. Ribeiro has an h-index of 19 and total number of citations of c.a. 1300 in Scopus database. Rui Ribeiro has 82 communications in scientific meetings (43 oral, 39 poster) and was distinguished with the Best Poster Award at the 2008 Reunion Iberica de Adsorcion in Madrid and the Synthesis & Catalysis Workshop 2024 at FCT-NOVA (Caparica). Furthermore, Rui Ribeiro was awarded with PhD (2009) and Post-Doc (2015) Fellowships from the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology. Ribeiro has supervised/co-supervised 2 PhD students (ongoing), 13 MSc Students (3 ongoing), 3 MSc Fellow Researchers, 7 Visiting Project Students, 2 Bachelor Project Students, and several undergraduate students. Furthermore, Rui Ribeiro is managing a team of 5 researchers (3 PhDs and 3 MSc) at HyLab. Rui Ribeiro's main research interests: 1) Electric Swing Adsorption for CO2 capture and Water Harvesting; 2) Design and optimization of Pressure Swing Adsorption (PSA) and Simulated Moving Bed (SMB) processes for gas separation (e.g. biogas upgrading and olefin/paraffin separation); 4) Characterization and evaluation of metal organic frameworks (MOFs) and covalent organic frameworks (COFs) as adsorbent materials for gas separation and purification; 4) Formulation of porous materials (e.g. MOFs, zeolites) into millimeter-scale usable adsorbent particles and structured monoliths by extrusion and 3D printing; 5) Development of Green Hydrogen Production and Purification Systems.
