Daniel Sousa obtained his MSc in Bioengineering from the University of Minho (Braga, Portugal) in 2016. In 2023, he obtained his PhD in Biology from the same university. His work aimed to develop strategies for valorizing agro-industrial wastes and by-products to improve their nutritional value for being used as animal feed, contributing to implementing the circular economy concept. Most of his work was focused on the biotechnological processing of wastes and by-products in the Centre of Biological Engineering and fermented extracts bioactivities (antioxidant, antimicrobial, and genoprotective), in the same university's Centre of Molecular and Environmental Biology. Additionally, Daniel developed work in the Animal Science Department of the Valencia Polytechnic University (Valencia, Spain) to evaluate the effect of solid-state fermentation in in vitro digestibility parameters. Daniel is the author of research publications in International Scientific journals. In 2021, he joined Colab4Food as a researcher at the Innovation & Funding department, contributing to project ideas development, fundraising, and R&D&i activities.
