Dr Marzia D’Amico is a Junior Researcher (FCT) at the Centre for Comparative Studies (CEComp), Universidade de Lisboa. Their research investigates the intersection of tradition and experimentalism in its various forms, expressions, languages, and codes, with a particular focus on the socio-political implications of female authorship in the production of verbivocovisual poetry. They are currently writing a book that centres on the work of Mirella Bentivoglio, Tomaso Binga, Ketty La Rocca, Lucia Marcucci, and Giulia Niccolai. They co-founded the Quir Hub Research Group, CEComp (Lisbon). Dr D’Amico holds a PhD in Italian Literature from the University of Oxford (2019), where their thesis explored genre revision and women's authorship in twentieth-century Italy, with a particular emphasis on the literary mechanisms employed by Amelia Rosselli and Patrizia Vicinelli in their intentional deconstruction of the epic genre. They are the author of Figlie del Sé: L’epica rivoluzionaria di Amelia Rosselli e Patrizia Vicinelli (Mimesis, 2023) and have published several scholarly articles on the Italian counter-canon, particularly engaging with feminist and queer theory and practices. They are also a poet and translator, writing and performing in multiple languages, primarily Italian and English. Their works include the poetic collection Manufatto Poetico: Liricologismo (Zacinto, 2023) and Ragazzx Laser (Zona, 2025), which won the Premio Pagliarani Award for original poem. Their multilingual poems have been featured in DataBleed, SPAM Zine, Argo, Osmosis, Neutopia, and many other international magazines. Among others, they translated the poets Livia Franchini (Ensemble, 2022) and June Scialpi (lay0out, 2024) and the author Dr Julia Shaw (Bi. Storia, scienza e cultura della bisessualità, Mondadori: 2023) and Isabel Fall (Il racconto dell'elicottero, Zona42: 2022) Dr D’Amico also co-runs a monthly open-access newsletter on transfeminism: Ghinea [https://ghinea.substack.com/] and is Editor - for the literary magazine Argonline - of the experimental poetry column: Autopoetica [https://www.argonline.it/tag/autopoetica/] An exhaustive academic overview can be consulted at https://flul.academia.edu/MarziaDAmico
