I got Bachelor degree in Industrial Chemistry in 2012 and Master degree in Material Chemistry in 2014, at the University of Catania. In 2019 I obtained the PhD in Structural Biochemistry at Aix-Marseille Université – CEA Cadarache. I started my first PostDoc in the same year at the Instituto de Tecnologia Quìmica e Biològica (ITQB NOVA) in Lisbon. I am interested in studying structure-function relationship in metalloproteins in both natural and artificial processes. During my PhD I manly focused my interest in the manganese cofactor (OEC) involved in the conversion of water into oxygen as well as in ferredoxins and heme proteins implicated in electron-transfer processes during natural photosynthesis. I developed my expertise in FTIR spectroscopy, coupled with electrochemistry and photochemistry. Now, at ITQB I am further developing proficiency in vibrational spectroscopy, implementing my knowledges with RR spectroscopy and related techniques. I am currently working on endonucleases and dye-decolorizing peroxidases.
