Anabela Valente Simões completed her PhD in Culture in 2009 at the University of Aveiro. She holds a Master's degree in Modern and Contemporary Literature and Culture from the University of Coimbra (2001) and has obtained degrees in Spanish Language, Literature, and Culture (2013) and in Teaching English and German (1997) from the University of Aveiro. Since 2000, she has been a lecturer at the School of Technology and Management of the University of Aveiro (ESTGA-UA), teaching courses in languages for specific purposes (English and German), intercultural communication, and business communication. She also collaborates with the Department of Languages and Cultures at the University of Aveiro, supervising postgraduate research. Over the years, AV Simões has taken on various academic management roles at ESTGA-UA, including coordinating degree programmes and leading the scientific group for Languages. She currently serves as vice-director of ESTGA-UA and is a member of the course committee for the Retail Management degree programme. As a researcher, AV Simões is affiliated with the Centre for Languages, Literatures and Cultures at the University of Aveiro (CLLC-UA), where she contributes to the research subgroups "Globalisation and Identities" and "Languages and Learning." She collaborates with two research groups at the State University of Goiás, in Brazil: GEFOPLE - Study Group for the Training of Foreign Language Teachers and LECCE - Literacies, Culture, Connectivity, and Education. Her research interests include foreign language teaching and learning, the development of transversal competences, intercultural communication, and the study of collective memory and identity. AV Simões has authored several papers at conferences and scientific meetings, as well as national and international publications. She is a reviewer of articles for international scientific journals and is also a member of the scientific committees of international conferences.
