Carolyn Elizabeth Leslie graduated with a Ph.D in 2016 in Languages, Literatures and Cultures , specilizing in Foreign Language Didactics at Universidade Nova de Lisboa, Faculdade de Ciências Sociais e Humanas, Portugal, with a thesis entitled 'Peer Interaction and Learning Opportunities in Cohesive and Less Cohesive L2 Classrooms'. She also has a Ph. D in Applied Microbiology from Heriot-Watt University (UK, 1985), a Master's degree in Applied Linguistics and TESOL from the University of Portsmouth (UK, 2010) and a B.Sc in Applied Microbiology from Strathclyde University. She is Assistant Professor at Universidade Nova de Lisboa ,Faculdade de Ciências Sociais e Humanas. She is course coordinator of the Master's degree in Ensino de Inglês no 1º Ciclo do Ensino Básico, and a full member of the Research Centre CETAPS (Centre for English, Translation and Anglo-Portuguese studies). Her research interests lie in peer interaction, task based learning, assessment and engagement in the language learning classroom.
