Joana is Auxiliary Researcher at the Life and Health Sciences Research Institute, University of Minho, in Portugal since 2017. Joana completed the Integrated Master in Biomedical Engineering in 2007 by Universidade Nova de Lisboa, Portugal and a PhD in Theoretical and Computational Neuroscience in 2012 by the Universitat Pompeu Fabra, Spain and subsequently did a postdoc at the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Oxford, UK. Joana has 3 kids, born in 2014, 2015 and 2019. Joana published over 60 articles in journals, 11 of which as first author, 2 as co-first author and 4 as senior author. Her first author publications alone count over 1500 citations in Google Scholar. She presented her work in more than 40 international events, including 5 keynote lectures. She organized 3 international workshops and co-supervised 8 MSc dissertations and 2 Ph Thesis. Joana has received 5 awards, including the 2019 L'Oréal Award for Women in Science Portugal. Participated as Researcher in 3 european projects. Her field of research involves Medical Engineering, with emphasis in Computational Modeling and Neuroimaging for Psychophysiology and Psychopathology research. In her curriculum Ciência Vitae the most frequent terms in the context of scientific and technological output are: drug discovery; neuromodulation; fMRI; whole-brain modeling; brain; biomedical engineering.
