Patricia Galvão Teles completed her Law degree in 1993 at the University of Lisbon Faculty of Law, her Doctorate in International Relations (major in International Law) in 2002 from the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies International Law Department, and her Diploma of Advanced Studies in International Relations in 1995 from the Institut de Hautes Études Internationales et du Développement. She is an Associate Professor at the Autonomous University of Lisbon and the Director-General for European and International Law at Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Portugal. She is currently a Member of the United Nations International Law Commission, where she co-chaired the Study Group on Sea Level Rise and International Law and was responsible, in particular, for the issue of protecting persons affected by sea level rise. She is co-Director of the Singapore CIL eAcademy of International Law and Senior Global Fellow at the Centre for International Law of the National University of Singapore. Currently she is Vice-President of the Portuguese Society for International Law and a member of the Standing Steering Committee of the International Law Association. In 2021, she was elected Associate Member of the Institut de Droit International. She is also a member of The Hague Academy of International Law. She has published 28 articles in specialized journals. She has authored 3 book chapters and 1 book.
