Fábio Miguel Figueiredo Santos took his BSc degree in Biochemistry (2009) at Faculty of Science and Technology of the New University of Lisbon (final grade 14/20). During his BSc degree, he was also a monitor of enzymatic kinetics curricular unit. Then, he finished his MSc degree in Pharmaceutical and Medicinal Chemistry (2012) at Faculty of Pharmacy – University of Lisbon (FFUL, final grade 17/20). From the research work performed in his MSc degree, 1 article was published (Bioorganic & Medicinal Chemistry, 2017, 25 (15), 3900). From 2012 to 2014, he was a research fellow at iMed.ULisboa with two master grants (PTDC/QUI-QUI/099389/2008 and PTDC/QUI-QUI/118315/2010) financed by "Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia" (FCT) in the fields of organic and bioorganic chemistry under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Pedro M. P. Gois. 2 articles, including a first name article (Org. Lett., 2013, 15 (7), 1760) and 1 book chapter at wiley were published. His PhD degree in Pharmacy (2018) was granted by Faculty of Pharmacy – University of Lisbon with distinction and honors. His PhD in pharmacy was done under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Pedro M. P. Gois, with a scholarship (SFRH/BD/94779/2013) financed by FCT, entitled "Iminoboronates as useful scaffolds for tumor-targeting”. During his PhD, the candidate published 3 first name articles, including 1 Angew. Chem. Int. Ed. 2017, 56, 9346, 1 VIP paper with a cover picture at Chem. Eur. J., 2016, 22, 1631, and 1 ChemPhotoChem, 2018, 2 (12), 1038. His PhD research work was also highlighted by "Associação Portuguesa de Investigação em Cancro" (ASPIC). He also published 3 additional papers in high impact international peer-reviewed journals and 1 book chapter in wiley. The candidate is also one of the inventors of an international/national patent (WO2018158582A1; PT109941) related with his PhD work, and the patent rights are already granted to a pharmaceutical industry Hovione SA. During his PhD, the candidate was awarded as the young medicinal chemist in Portugal (2017), granted by "Direcção da Divisão de Química Terapêutica da Sociedade Portuguesa Química". This award led the candidate to be invited to give 1 international oral communication at 4th EFMC Young Medicinal Chemist Symposium, Vienna, (2017). Three additional national oral communications, including 1 invited, were also performed. Since 2014, several undergraduated students from FFUL and abroad (Leeds university), were successfully co-supervised by the candidate. In the last 5 years, the candidate was also involved as a commission member in the organization of several national and international symposiums. From 2013 to 2015, the candidate was a member of postgraduate students comission (ipSC) at FFUL. After his PhD, from 2018 to 2019 the candidate was a research fellow at iMed.ULisboa institute with a master scholarship (PTDC/QEQ-MED/5512/2014) entitled “Alzheimer3D: Trifunctional Conjugates for the Selective Drug Delivery in Alzheimer’s Disease” financed by FCT with the supervision of Prof. Dr. Pedro M. P. Gois. Currently he is a Post-Doc research fellow in iMed.ULisboa with a scholarship (FARM-ID 7/2019/PTDC/QUI-QOR/29967/2017; Btox: Boronated Cytotoxic Multivalent Platforms - A New Concept to Fight Cancer” financed by FCT and supervised by Prof. Dr. Pedro M. P. Gois. His current research field is Bioorganic Chemistry, an research area in the interface of organic chemistry and biology. The aims are the discovery of new generic synthetic methods and chemical probes that may be further explored to tackle important biological problems related with infectious diseases, oncology and inflammation.
