I graduated in Health of Sciences with the purpose of accomplishing an overview about the important topics to connect all the concepts in this subject. Afterwards, I did a master in Neurosciences, a tailor-made program that enables students to acquire the basic theoretical and practical skills necessary to develop a thesis in various fields of neuroscience. Then, I enrolled in a PhD program in the field which offered a broad, multidisciplinary education guaranteed by the collaboration of various first-line research units inside and outside the country. It also provides access to a rich national and international research environment within European training networks. As a scientific researcher at Neurosciences and Pharmacology Unit of the Faculty of Medicine and Instituto de Medicina Molecular Joao Lobo Antunes my responsibilities included: review scientific literature, plan and perform laboratory experiments, analyse and interpret raw data, supervise national and international undergraduate and Master students, prepare technical documents such as manuscripts and abstracts and manage laboratory activities. I also had the opportunity to participate in national and international meetings as first-author of several oral and poster communications and be a member of the organising committee of different work meetings and events of public engagement in science. During these years, I went to several schools/institutions to talk about science. Later, I became interested in Science Management and all the processes underlying scientific organisations and infrastructures. Then, during the last year of my PhD, I decided to enrol in a Postgraduation in Science and Technology Management and Policy in Faculdade de Ciências Sociais e Humanas da Universidade NOVA de Lisboa to learn more about these practices. Indeed, I had the opportunity to discover more about management, dissemination and communication of programs and projects in science and research, how to handle applications and manage fundraising strategies, manage knowledge transfer processes, and promote scientific culture programs. Recently, I have had the opportunity to work on international projects at INESC-ID, one of the top R&D institutes in Portugal with internationally recognised expertise. More specifically, I have been responsible for supporting the overall management of projects, organising formal sessions, conferences, workshops and other events, supporting the preparation of progress reports, dissemination of projects and the results obtained and communication within the consortium of the projects, community and society in general.
