Natália Gonçalves da Silva has a doctoral degree in Marine Biotechnology (2025) from the University of Porto, and is currently a Junior Researcher on the "CYANOMETAL" project at the Interdisciplinary Centre of Marine and Environmental Research (CIIMAR), in the Blue Biotechnology, Environment and Health (BBEH) research team. Her current research investigation focuses on the study, isolation and structure elucidation of novel natural compounds from cyanobacteria for Alzheimer's disease. She already participated in several projects (European and National), either as a Research Fellow, Research Technician and Junior Researcher, published 4 papers in specialised peer-reviewed Journals, co-invented an international patent, and attended/participated in several international conferences. She has more than seven years of experience in the isolation and structural elucidation of bioactive compounds (natural products chemistry), microorganism cultures, omics approaches, bioactivity screening assays (in vitro and in vivo), and molecular characterisation of compounds in human pathologies.
