Alireza Akhavan-Safar has a background in various areas related to adhesives and bonded joints, including fatigue, fracture mechanics, impact, environmental factors, bio-additives, and numerical simulations. As a postdoc researcher, he has been a member of INEGI's Advanced Joining Process Unit (AJPU) since 2018. He has been involved in several industrial projects funded by various international companies. He is the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal on Mechanics of Solids (JMS), University of Porto, and is also a member of the editorial board of the Journal of Proceedings of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, Part L: Journal of Materials: Design and Applications - JMDA. Alireza is also a member of the organizing committee of the International Conference on Durability, Repair and Maintenance of Structures (DRMS 2023) and the International Conference on Vehicle Body Engineering (VBE 2023). He is a member of the scientific committee of various international conferences (including the International Conference on Materials Design and Application-MDA, the International Conference on Structural Adhesive Bonding-AB, and the International Conference on Mechanics of Solids, MS). He has also served as a reviewer of articles for more than 40 international ISI journals. More than 12 master's theses and 7 Ph.D. theses have been supervised or co-supervised by him at various universities and countries. He has also been invited as a reviewer of research projects funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF) and the Poland National Science Center. He is also on the team for the Advanced Joining Processes online course where he teaches fatigue in bonded joints. From his research, he has published more than 75 ISI papers and around 150 presentations at international scientific conferences. Alireza is the author or co-author of 4 international books and 10 book chapters, all in the field of adhesive bonding.
