Alireza Akhavan-Safar obtained his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering in 2017. As a coordinating researcher at INEGI, Portugal since 2018, he possesses diverse expertise in adhesives and adhesive joints, covering fatigue, fracture, impact, environmental factors, creep, etc. Alireza has been engaging in multiple industrial projects across diverse fields, leveraging his extensive industrial experience to bridge the gap between academic research and practical applications. He is the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal on Mechanics of Solids at the University of Porto and is a member of the editorial boards of journals such as the Proc IMEchE, Part L: Journal of Materials Design and Applications, Metals, Frontiers in Materials - Mechanics of Materials, Adhesives, and Archives of Advanced Engineering Science. Furthermore, Alireza is a member of the organizing committees of the International Conference on Durability, Repair and Maintenance of Structures and the International Conference on Vehicle Body Engineering. He serves as the scientific committee member of the International Conferences on Materials Design and Application, Structural Adhesive Bonding, and Mechanics of Solids. Moreover, Alireza has been served as a reviewer for 68 ISI journals. Alireza has supervised or co-supervised 16 master's and 8 PhD theses. Alireza's expertise extends to reviewing research proposals for international funding institutions. Alireza has published over 115 ISI papers and delivered approximately 150 presentations at international conferences. He has also authored or co-authored 4 international books and contributed to 11 book chapters.
