Nelson Pereira is a chemist with multidisciplinary expertise derived from rigorous academic preparation and 10+ years of research experience. He received his degree in Industrial Chemistry in 2005 from the University of Coimbra and obtained the MSc and Ph.D. degrees in Organic Chemistry in the same institution in 2008 and 2014, respectively. Throughout his research career, he integrated various projects, (PRIME/CLARO/3/293/2007; FCT SFRH/BD/61573/2009; PTDC/QEQ-MED/0262/2014; PTDC/EMD-TLM/30295/2017; PTDC/QUI-QFI/28973/2017), working and collaborating with researchers from different áreas (Chemical, Biological, Medical and Health Sciences; Physics). He participated in scientific missions joining as visiting researcher to international research groups of excellence at Trinity College Dublin (2011) and Utrecht University (2016 and 2018). He has experience of co-supervision and supporting undergraduate and graduate students, from various courses, Chemistry, Medicinal Chemistry, Dentistry, to achieve their academic goals. He was awarded 4 grants, a research fellowship from Chymiotechnon (2007), a Ph.D. Scholarship from the Foundation for Science and Technology (2009), two postdoctoral research fellowships (2016 and 2018) and 1 researcher position (2019) from the University of Coimbra. He has recognized research activity in organic, physical and medicinal chemistry. As a result, his work is actually (Fev., 2021) reported in various international peer-reviewed journals (15) and patents (2) and was presented in several conferences, oral communications (8) and posters (30+). Reviewing for scientific journals and participation as a jury member of academic degrees are other scientific activities in which he has been involved. Nelson Pereira is working as a researcher at the Laboratory for Molecular Cryospectroscopy and Biospectroscopy (LMCB) of the University of Coimbra. He is also lecturing courses in Organic Chemistry in the same institution. His main scientific research interests are the design and development of new theranostic agents for cancer. Recently, he has also been focusing his study on organic reactions induced by Infrared Vibrational Excitation.
