Prof. Dr. Rolf Laven “Art, Research, Teaching” Artist – Full Professor of Art Education at University College of Teacher Education Vienna and Academy of Fine Arts and University of Applied Arts Vienna (Cluster North East, Austria) Born in Germany, Rolf Laven studied sculpture in Maastricht/NL (Rijkshogeschool: Academie van Beeldende Kunsten, Netherlands) and Vienna (University: Academy of Fine Arts, Vienna), graduating in 1998 (Masterclasses Pistoletto and Gironcoli). He finished also his studies at the Academy of Fine Arts also as a Master in ´Visual Arts and Design Education` in 1995 and with his Dissertation in 2004 (PhD Thesis: “Franz Cizek and the international reputation of the Viennese Juvenile Art Class”) (supervied by Profs. Zens & Samsonow). He has worked as an art and design teacher at several academic high schools in Vienna and leads since 1999 a professional maturity examination course called „Art & Design“ at Adult Education Centre Meidling. Postgraduated he was trained (2010-11) as a supervising teacher at the University of Education Vienna (supervision of young teachers in the probationary year) as well as at the Institute for Educational Sciences of the University of Vienna (supervision in Teacher Training in the Pedagogical Seminars. For his Cumulative Habilitation he got the Venia Docendi 2013 as Full ´Professor of Fine Arts` at the Universidad Azteca, Chalco Estado de México in the fields of (a) Art Pedagogy and Youth Culture (b) Liberal Arts Next to his professorship at the University of Teacher Education (PH Wien) he taught as a part time lecturer at the Education Faculty of the University of Vienna (2011-18) and as Docent for Sculpture at the < Vienna School of Art > (2013-14). Since 2017 he works also as artistic researcher and lecturer at ´ University of Applied Arts` and ´Academy of Fine Arts Vienna`. I worked in my scientific studies 2016-2019 at the Friedrich Schiller University Jena, Germany, with the topic of mental immersion and its occurrence in the classroom. An immergent mental movement carries with it the chance of pluralistic reasoning, this immergency includes (1) getting involved in differences, (2) being open for possibilities as pre-realities, (3) equal-balance of principles (equidistance), and (4 ) distance acquisition in the appearance mode.
