Helena da Conceição Pereira Albano (HA). PhD degree in Biotechnology-Microbiology (2008) in Escola Superior de Biotecnologia of Universidade Católica Portuguesa (ESB-UCP), Master's degree in Biotechnology - Engineering Biochemistry (2002) in Instituto Superior Técnico and a degree in Microbiology (1997), by ESB-UCP. Member of CISAS - Center for Research and Development in Agrifood Systems and Sustainability. In 2008 she was invited to coordinate and lecture the Microbiology and Parasitology (now rename as Clinical Microbiology) class at ESEnfC at Coimbra University, which she has been doing until today. Even before her PhD, HA has been a trainer at many institutions and a lecturer in others. In middle of 2010, HA started her Postdoctoral program in the area of Development of improved and rapid pathogen detection methodologies for laboratory, especially in food samples. Between july 2016 and march 2019 she was a Senior Researcher on the project ¿Biological tools for adding and defending value in key agro-food chains (bio ¿ n2 ¿ value)¿. In 2019, she became Invited Assistant Lecturer at ESA, IPVC (Escola Superior Agrária, Instituto Politécnico de Viana do Castelo), which she has been doing until today. Since then, HA has had multiple coordinations, presentations in scientific meetings and several articles. HA has coordinated several bachelor projects, three MSc student and coordinating one national PhD student and 2 international PhD student. Also, HA participated in 5 projects. In total Helena Albano is the author of 33 scientific papers indexed to Scopus (H-Index 17; 977 citations), 4 chapters in books, 3 proceedings in meetings, 11 oral communications, 44 posters and has been in the jury for 6 master thesis, 2 Ph.D. international thesis and several bachelor final internships. Her career has been focused on food safety and bio-control strategies in traditional products, towards more safe foods and defending traditional products. Besides, healthcare-associated infections (HAIs) and antibiotic resistance are a relevant subject of study and interest.
