Carlos Souto completed his "Mestrado em Mecânica Computacional" (Master's in Computational Mechanics) in 2020 by University of Porto (UP), Faculty of Engineering (FEUP), and "Licenciatura em Engenharia Mecânica" (Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering) in 2018 by University of Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro (UTAD), School of Science and Technology (ECT). He is a Researcher at Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto (FEUP) and Institute of Science and Innovation in Mechanical and Industrial Engineering (INEGI) of Associated Laboratory for Energy, Transports and Aeronautics (LAETA), by his participation in 2 research fellowships (Scientific Initiation Fellow and Research Fellow) associated with the FASCOLD project funded by the Research Fund for Coal and Steel (RFCS) of the European Commission and the FiberBridge project funded by Portugal's Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT). He operates mainly in the areas of Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, and Informatics. He has several scientific outputs, including journal articles, conference papers, and a master's dissertation, with Scopus reporting 50+ citations; he is also the developer of Omicron, a finite element analysis software for solids, and FDT - Fatigue Damage Tool. His scientific activities include several participations and presentations at international conferences, consultancy in finite element analysis, and tutoring. His main research topics and keywords are: Fatigue behaviour and lifetime prediction; Numerical modelling; Manufacturing residual stresses; Snug-tight bolted joints; Stress-strain analysis; Thin-walled cold-formed mild steel members.
