Luis Carvalho completed the Licenciatura in Economics (2002) by the Universidade do Porto. He is Doctor in Economic Geography and Urban Development (2013) by Erasmus Universiteit Rotterdam and Master in Urban Management (2005) by the same university. He is currently Professor (Auxiliar) at the Faculty of Economics and Management at the University of Porto, Visiting Researcher in Hogeschool van Amsterdam (Faculteit Business en Economie) and Researcher at the Centre of Studies in Geography and Spatial Planning at the University of Porto. Luís has published several articles and book sections in diverse International scientific outlets, and he is the (co-)author of four scientific books. He was Principal investigator in 6 project(s) and team member in 6 other project(s). In his curriculum Ciência Vitae the most frequent terms in the context of scientific output are: Public Policy; Innovation Systems; Innovation Policy; Global Networks; Entrepreneurial Ecosystems; Geography of Knowledge and Innovation; Regional Innovation Systems; Evolutionary Economic Geography; Smart City Development; Territorial Economy; Sustainability Transitions. He is Fellow of the Regional Studies Association and the current Scientific Director of the Master Programme in Innovation Economics and Management at the University of Porto.
