Bruno M. Fonseca obtained his PhD in Biochemistry from the University of Porto, Portugal, in 2010. Subsequently, he undertook
a postdoctoral research fellowship at the i3S-Institute for Research & Innovation in Health. His groundbreaking research not
only significantly expanded our understanding of the pivotal role of endocannabinoids in endometrial stromal cell remodeling
during early pregnancy but also laid the groundwork for pioneering new approaches in examining the intricate interplay between
endocannabinoids and female reproductive health. In 2015, he joined UCIBIO as a Research Fellow, persisting in his pattern
of making significant contributions to the field. His research efforts focused on investigating the intricate interplay between
infertility, inflammation, and oxidative stress, with a particular emphasis on identifying an inflammatory signature associated
with low reproductive potential and aging in women. His findings have the potential to inform the development of innovative
approaches for improving female reproductive health. Currently, his research interests center on the effects of novel lipid
mediators on endometrial remodeling and pregnancy-related complications. Additionally, he is keenly interested in exploring
the role of cannabinoids in health and disease, as well as investigating how ovarian steroid hormones and endocannabinoids
function together. Bruno M. Fonseca is a highly respected expert in his field, having authored or coauthored over 75 papers
in prestigious international journals, which have received over 1500 citations. He has also been invited to speak at various
national and international conferences, further highlighting his impressive reputation as a leading researcher in the field
of female reproductive health. Throughout the years, he has actively collaborated with esteemed educational institutions in
the fields of biochemistry and pharmacology. Presently, he holds an position as an invited professor at both the University
of Porto and the Health School of the Polytechnic Institute of Viana do Castelo.
