I’m graduated in Biomedical Sciences, more precisely in Anatomia Patológica, Citológica e Tanatológica, where I had acquired all knowledge related to histology, immunohistochemistry, necropsy and tissue processing. My first professional experience started in January 2009 as a lab manager at Rheumatology Research Unit, Instituto de Medicina Molecular. The main responsibilities were financial management of projects as well as management and organization of the laboratory work and material. At the same time I started to work at Rheumatology Service at Hospital Santa Maria as a Study Coordinator of clinical trials in rheumatoid arthritis, osteoporosis and lupus. Moreover, In 2010 I have attended to the intensive course of Animal manipulation FELASA Cat B. Over the last 10 years, I have worked with several animal models, used all the available routes for drug delivery, developed immunization techniques for arthritis induction and oophorectomy procedure for osteoporotic studies. April 2017, I have concluded my PhD in Biomedical Sciences in Rheumatology field (started in 2012), with a work entitled “How early inflammatory events affect bone nano properties at rheumatoid arthritis onset”. Over 11 years of award-winning research I have developed several studies related to inflammation and rheumatology field, I have also conducted several pre-clinical studies in order to investigate the efficacy, toxicity and bone effects of 10 compounds (5 from global pharmaceutical companies). During this period 16 research articles were published. During my PhD I have performed several scientific formations techniques related to microarchitecture, biomechanics and material composition, such as micro computed tomography (micro-CT) (Oulu University, Finland), histomorphometry (INSERM, France), flexural tests (3-point bending) ( Instituto Superior Técnico de Lisboa), nanoindentation (Cranfield University, UK), X-ray spectroscopy (Instituto de ciências de saúde do sul) and fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (ftir) (Oulu University, Finland).
