Noélia Duarte is graduated in Pharmaceutical Sciences (1995). ND received her MSc (1999) and PhD (2008) degrees in Pharmaceutical Chemistry (both from FFUL). She is an Assistant Professor at FFUL, and has expertise in several chromatographic and spectroscopic techniques (UV, FTIR, HPLC, GC, NMR and HPLC-MS). Teaching areas: Instrumental Methods of Analysis, Natural Products Chemistry and Structural Identification of Organic Compounds. Noélia Duarte is an effective member of the R&D Center Instituto de Investigação do Medicamento (iMed.ULisboa) and her research has been focus on the isolation and structural characterization of bioactive compounds from plants. In particular, N. Duarte has been interested in the identification of compounds with antitumoral and antimicrobial activities. In addition, she is also interested in Mass Spectrometry studies (LC-ESI-MS/MS) aiming the identification and quantification of various metabolites from plant extracts and biological samples. She participated in 4 national financed research projects. She is also supervisor and co-supervisor of Master thesis. She is author or co-author of 5 book chapters and 42 research papers in peer-reviewed scientific journals.
