Haoran Chi has been working as a Post-Doc researcher in the Instituto de Telecomunicacoes, Portugal since Aug 2019. Before that, he obtained his Ph.D. from the City University of Hong Kong (2021 QS university ranking: 48th worldwide) in July 2018, and his Bachelor with First Class Honor from the same university in 2013. He worked as a research scholar in the North Carolina State University (a top US university famous for Electronic Engineering) after his Ph.D. graduation and Postdoc Fellow in the City University of Hong Kong in 2019. Haoran has published more than 40 technical papers in high IF journals and well-acknowledged conferences (H-index: 9 with more than 400 citations). Besides, he is an IEEE Member and committee member of multiple IEEE technical committees and has experience organizing multiple international conferences such as IEEE IECON, IEEE ISPCE, IoTSuG HK, etc. He is invited to the editorial board of reputational journals, e.g. Sensors, Curr. Chin. Sci. He was also invited as a guest speaker in IEEE IES/CIS joint event in US in 2019 and has multiple oral presentation experiences in international conferences, where he was highly applauded by professionals from the same research area. Haoran has been awarded/won competitions by academic and R&D organizations (e.g. IET, HKIE, HK Education Bureau), and companies (e.g. BBPOS LTD) for his well-acknowledged research skills in 5G (beyond) networking, IoT, optimization, machine learning, and smart city applications. Haoran has also proved his research capability by successfully participating in projects in Hong Kong (e.g. ITF, SRG, etc.) and EU (MUSCLES, SAFE-HOME, and 5G-AHEAD Portugal). He is also a Co-PI for the IT-internal project NICE-HOME. Haoran's strong research skills in project collaboration are highly applauded by supervisors and collaborators. It is highlighted that he developed proof of concept for his published research outcome, accepted by companies including CLP-HK and MTR-HK, showcasing his technology transfer capability. He also had experience supervising bachelor, MSc, and Ph.D. students through project management. During his career, Haoran has obtained expertise knowledge on 5G (and beyond) networking, IoT infrastructure development, machine learning, cloud/edge computing, eHealth modeling, and optimization modeling. Moreover, Haoran has already showcased his proactive international collaboration, proved by his participation in projects from EU/Asia, and his international collaborated publications in high-impact journals and conferences. Haoran's experience paves the right way for him to be an independent researcher with excellent research ability, academic knowledge, and project collaboration capability.
