Taofiq Oludemi (TO) holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry (Olabisi Onabanjo University, 2010) and a Masters's degree in Biotechnology (Polytechnic Institute of Bragança, 2015). He completed his PhD degree in Pharmacy and Health with International mention at the University of Salamanca (2019). TO is currently a Juan de la Cierva-formation (FJC2019-042549-I) postdoctoral fellow at the University of Vigo, Spain, being selected under a very competitive basis. TO previously had a fixed-term contract (17 Months) at CIMO-IPB, within the framework of the ValorNatural® project, since July 2020. TO has published 23 peer-reviewed articles and 1 Book Chapter listed within the highest impact factor (IF) journals, mainly in the areas of Food Science, Analytical Chemistry, and Biotechnology. Key features include a 13h-index with over 600 citations from 2016 to 2nd March 2022, 15 articles as first author (65%), three articles as the second author (13%) and others (22%). Three articles were published in journals located in the First Decile, 19 in journals that are located within the first quartile and only 1 article was published in a second quartile journal. TO has also demonstrated a very strong collaborative research network, evidenced by his research mobilities and joint publications. Collaborating institutions are in Portugal (7 institutions), Spain (2 institutions), Brazil (4 institutions), Greece (1 institution), Cyprus (1 institution), and the USA (1 institution). Future research prospects of the applicant will involve exploring agricultural bio-residues towards the obtainment of value-added biomolecules to be utilised in developing novel cosmetic formulations as well as opening further exploitation routes towards zero waste. This research line will contribute to the management of agro-food wastes generated from several agro-food industries, thereby reducing their environmental footprint and contributing to the idea of Circular bioeconomy. TO has participated in several national and international scientific meetings where he disseminated over 40 communications, distinguished with Awards and Honorable Mentions. The applicant has been a member of 4 master's thesis evaluation committees, has tutored 1 BSc student and has supervised two master's theses. TO has strongly collaborated as a team member in several research projects, namely: ValorNatural® (Norte-01-0247-FEDER-024479), OliveBIOextract (NORTE-01-0247-FEDER-049865), IBERPHENOL (project 0377_Iberphenol_6_E), FEDER-Interreg España-Portugal (2017-2019; PT-IPB). TO is currently a guest editorial member of three special issues in the open-access journal of chemistry (Molecules IF: 4.41; Process IF: 2.84 ) and applied natural sciences (Applied Sciences IF: 2.67) and has also performed reviewer tasks in more than 15 scientific journals. TO has been invited to contribute to two book chapters that address bioactive molecules from natural sources and has strongly participated in several science dissemination actions. TO career objectives are to contribute to the scientific initiation of master and early-stage PhD students that are starting their research careers and participate in several training opportunities through international partnerships. TO intends to lead his own research team at the highest level by developing collaborative R&D projects (involving research centres and enterprises) aimed at valorising natural matrices to produce exploitable results mainly applied to the agri-food, pharmaceutical and cosmetic industries.
