PhD candidate in Fashion Design at the University of Minho, with a research practice situated at the intersection of textile design, materiality, making, meaning, and human experience. Doctoral research draws on phenomenology, semiotics, emotional design, and material agency to investigate the sensory, symbolic, and cultural dimensions of textiles and the relationships established between users and materials, with particular attention to craft practices, material experimentation, and more meaningful and sustainable approaches to textile and fashion design. Holds a Master’s degree in Design, with emphasis on Design and Technology, from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS, 2015), recognized by the University of Lisbon with a final grade of 17/20. During the Master’s, was awarded a CAPES research fellowship and conducted research at the Laboratory of Design and Materials Selection (LDSM-UFRGS), participating in interdisciplinary projects integrating design and materials engineering. This experience provided a technical and methodological foundation in materials, processes, biomimetics, and design methodology, as well as experience with technologies including scanning electron microscopy (SEM), laser cutting, 3D scanning, and 3D printing. Holds a Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design from Methodist University Center – IPA (2012), recognized by the University of Lisbon with a final grade of 16/20. Academic background is complemented by professional experience in fashion and textile design, including fashion and styling production, collection planning, surface design, technical drawing, patternmaking, production control, logistics, and sustainable development. Research experience also includes a Research Fellowship within the R&D project SmartExo – Smart Control of a Soft Exoskeleton with Textile-based Actuation, at the Center for Microelectromechanical Systems (CMEMS), University of Minho. The work involved textile structures, material experimentation, and the development of textile solutions for responsive systems, complementing academic research with experience in applied and interdisciplinary textile development. Research interests encompass textile design and material practices, materiality and meaning, sustainable fashion and textile design, biomimetics, material selection, and the theoretical and epistemological foundations of fashion research. Across these areas, the research combines theoretical inquiry with material experimentation, connecting phenomenology, semiotics, material agency, craft knowledge, digital fabrication, and textile construction. Author of four published articles, with three additional papers accepted for publication. Has delivered eight oral presentations at academic conferences and invited lectures in Brazil, Italy, and the United Kingdom, and presented a visual abstract at the Design Research Society International Conference in 2026.
