Joana Pinto is a PhD researcher in political philosophy affiliated with the Center for Ethics, Politics and Society, holding a master's degree in Political Philosophy alongside a bachelor's degree in Law. Her research interests encompass theories of democracy, political legitimacy, normative partisanship, and distributive justice, aiming to reconcile ideal and non-ideal political theory. She has authored articles exploring the intersection of political legitimacy and normative theories of partisanship, notably in Ethics, Politics & Society with the title “The Two Faces of Political Parties: How They Can Both Help and Hinder Rawls’ Public Reason”, and a paper in the Brazilian Political Science Review titled “Rawlsian Public Reason and Climate Change: A Blueprint for Integrationist Justice”. Furthermore, Joana has played a proactive role in academia, organizing the 12th UMinho Philosophy Students’ Conference and convening panels at both the 13th and 14th Braga Meetings on Ethics and Political Philosophy. She has presented papers at conferences, participated in simulations of the Portuguese and European Parliaments, and actively engaged in competitive debate tournaments and Moot Courts, consistently endeavoring to gain experience and reconcile deliberative and legislative processes with the themes of political philosophy.
