In 2003, Olga Ferreira earned her PhD in Chemical Engineering from the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Porto. In 2004, she joined the Chemical Technology Department at the Polytechnic Institute of Bragança (IPB), where she now works as a Professor Coordinator. She is a permanent member of the Associate Laboratory SusTEC and the Mountain Research Center, where she coordinates the Processes and Products Engineering topic. She also integrates the IUPAC Subcommittee on Solubility and Equilibrium Data. Currently, she serves as the course director of the master’s degree in chemical engineering and as vice president of the Pedagogical Council at the School of Technology and Management (IPB). Her research focuses on applied chemical thermodynamics of complex multicomponent mixtures containing biomolecules (phenolic compounds, terpenes, amino acids, and peptides), to support the design of more sustainable extraction, fractionation, and purification processes in a biorefinery setting using green solvents such as ionic liquids, eutectic solvents, or biobased solvents. She has published more than 65 scientific papers in international journals indexed by the Science Citation Index (SCI) or Scopus, and presented more than 110 oral and poster communications at national and international conferences. She was also a member of several scientific and organizing committees for international conferences and cochaired the 20th International Symposium on Solubility Phenomena sponsored by IUPAC (2022). She shares/shared the supervision of 5 PhD students and 39 master's students, serving as a team member or coordinator on several competitive scientific projects.
