I am El Khalil Cherif, a Ph.D. holder in Coastal Water, Remote Sensing, and Environment, and a recent graduate with a Master's in Blue Economy from the University of Trieste, Italy. Currently serving as a researcher at the Marine, Environment, and Technology Centre/The Laboratory of Robotics and Engineering Systems (MARETEC/LARSyS) in Lisbon, Portugal. My research is centered on environmental monitoring, climate change adaptation tools, and sustainable coastal development. I specialize in leveraging GIS, remote sensing, and machine learning for real-time environmental monitoring, fire risk assessment, and coastal hazard detection. My contributions extend to developing Blue Economy technologies, enhancing marine biodiversity monitoring, and promoting integrated environmental monitoring solutions. Over the past six years, I have actively participated in research projects in the Mediterranean region, publishing nearly 30 articles. Engaged in various initiatives and organizations focusing on youth empowerment and knowledge transfer in the Mediterranean and the Middle East, including WESTMED, YOURS, Union for the Mediterranean, and CBCGDF, I am detail-oriented with excellent project management skills. Proficient in six languages spoken in countries where I have worked, I am keen on participating in international projects related to climate change's impact on the Ocean, Air, and Land, with a specific focus on employing machine learning, remote sensing, and GIS. My interests also encompass working on Blue Economy initiatives, environmental diplomacy, and climate justice projects.
