Raquel da Silva (Ph.D, Social Applied Studies ) is Assistant Professor of International Relations at the School of Economics, University of Coimbra and Integrated Researcher at CEI_Iscte. She is a critical peace and conflict studies scholar, and her work connects the fields of political psychology and international relations, engaging in genuinely multidisciplinary dialogue. She has been mostly researching issues related to terrorism and political violence, using different forms of narrative inquiry to analyse first-hand data collected through semi-structured interviews, but also social media and archival data. She has published seminal work developing a dialogical narrative identity framework approach to the life stories of former politically violent militants. Her current research focuses on ideologically inspired hate crimes and aims to enhance national and international academic and policy understandings of the existence of unconscious cognitive biases in the creation of stereotypes that permeate all areas of society, including the criminal justice system. She co-convenes the BISA Critical Terrorism Studies Working Group and is assistant editor at Behavioral Sciences of Terrorism and Political Aggression. She tweets at @RaquelBPSilva
