  12. Nematode and macrofauna communities associated with different recovery stages of Zostera noltii beds in an estuarine system. Seagrass beds are one of the most productive marine ecosystems, providing services, such as food source, shelter areas and nursery habitats for a variety of species. These ecosystems are efficient carbon fixators fueling the food webs, while regulators of the carbon cycle and sea floor stabilizers. However, numerous reports of their decline worldwide indicate that seagrass habitats are undergoing. 2017. 23. GEOCHEMICAL EXPRESSION OF SPELEOTHEME GROWTH FROM XRFAND LA-ICP-MS: PALEOCLIMATIC IMPLICATIONS. Carbonate cave deposits have a widespread use in deciphering climatic signals from the past using several proxies (e.g. stable isotope compositions). In the western central part of Portugal, the Mesozoic sediments of the Lusitanian basin are particularly susceptible to dissolve by interaction with meteoric waters and to develop karstic caves, especially in the Lower and Middle Jurassic limestone a. 2015. 25. The Holocene Climatic Recovery in South-Western Iberia as Recorded in Limestone Tuff Deposits. Data on continental limestone shows that following the cold climate of Younger Dryas stadial, conditions for carbonate sedimentation settled in south-western Iberia, leading to the development of the Asseca River (Tavira)limestone tuffs. This formation deposited over a period of ca. 7.5 kyr, preserves a detailed record of the climatic conditions of the area as well as of the vegetation cover. 2014. 26. The Significance of Changes of Source Areas During Carboniferous Turbiditic Deposition (Southwestern Iberia). U–Pb dating of detrital zircons from the Carboniferous turbidites of southwestern Iberia (the Cabrela, Mértola, Mira, and Brejeira formations) shows that synorogenic sedimentation during the Carboniferous was marked by significant variations in the source areas, involving the denudation of different crustal blocks and a break in synorogenic volcanism. The Visean is characterized by the accumulatio. 2014. 27. Sedimentary record of the amalgamation and break-up of Pangaea: U-Pb detrital zircon geochronology and provenance of Carboniferous-Triassic siliciclastic rocks (SW Iberia). In SW Iberia there is a basal unconformity where Triassic sandstones overlie previously deformed Carboniferous turbidites. This important stratigraphic boundary records the transition from the final stages of Pangaea’s amalgamation to the initial stages of break-up. U-Pb dating of detrital zircon from Carboniferous greywackes of the South Portuguese Zone and Triassic sandstones of the Algarve and. 2014. Pereira, M.
