Costa has completed her PhD on experimental Physics (1998) and habilitation in Condensed Matter Physics (2012) from University of Coimbra, Portugal. She has been involved in teaching and research at UC for more than 35 years, being member of CFisUC. Currently, she is joint Professor with habilitation at Physics Department of University of Coimbra. She works in the field of Condensed Matter Physics, namely in nanostructured materials using Mössbauer spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, X-ray fluorescence and electron microscopies as main techniques. She supervises Master and PhD students and has published ca. 200 papers in peer review reputed journals and is also a reviewer of a great number of high impact journals. She has also contributed with more than 200 papers in international conferences. As metrics, her H index is 23 accordingly to Scopus. She has been member or coordinated several projects and also evaluated a few.
