Paula Maria Mimo Carreira Paquete, completed her PhD in Geosciences in 1999 from the University of Aveiro. Presently she is Principal Researcher (career) at the University of Lisbon Instituto Superior Tecnico /Campus Tecnológico e Nuclear (IST/CTN). Responsible for the Tritium dating Unit and for the Light Stable Isotopes Laboratory (2H; 13C and 18O) at IST / CTN. I have published 96 articles in peer-reviewed journals, and owns 22 book chapters. MAIN SCIENTIFIC AREA OF RESEARCH: The scientific activity has been developed in the use of environmental isotopes in hydrogeology research studies, palaeohydrology and climate investigations, emphasis on the use of the ratios 2H/1H, 13C/12C, 15N/14N, 18O/16O and variation of groundwater 3H and 14C content. The work is being focused on the study of the quality of groundwater for Human supply and groundwater resources protection and management, through the identification and quantification of pollution sources traced by environmental isotopes and definition of the preferential recharge areas. Of the 34 research projects I have participated in, I have been PI in 12 (5 active). These research projects were/are funded by Portugal through the Portuguese Foundation for Science, by the IAEA and the by EU. The research activities and expertise in water quality degradation of coastal aquifers led to my selection as representative of the Coastal Aquifers Group in the IAEA project RER7013. SCIENTIFIC ADVISER EXPERIENCE - Since 2010 Isotope Hydrology Expert I(nternational Atomic Energy Agency / Isotope Hydrology Section (IAEA/IHS)); Responsible For Isotope Hydrology Formation at C2TN /IST - Portugal in cooperation with the IAEA of 15 fellows from african countries. TEACHING ACTIVITIES :Integrates as professor: Radiological Protection and Safety MSc¿ Radiochemical Curricular Unit / Environmental Engineering - Curricular Unit Environmental Reconstruction and Geochronology / Master of Science and Technology for Cultural Heritage, Curricular Unit: Isotopic Geochemistry . I have supervised/co-supervised 4 PhD, 8 MSc and 4 BSc students and 2 post-doctoral students
