Augusta Gama is Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Sciences, University of Lisbon (FCUL) and a researcher at the Research Centre for Anthropology and Health (CIAS), University of Coimbra. She graduated in Biology in 1986 by University of Coimbra, Faculty of Sciences and Tecnology, and obtained her PhD in Biology (Biological Anthropology) in 2003, from the University of Lisbon. She teaches courses at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels at the Animal Biology Department (FCUL). She published 53 articles in journals with IF. Supervised 12 MSc dissertations and co-supervised 1. She participates and/or has participated as researcher in 2 projects. Works in the areas of Natural sciences with emphasis on Biological Sciences with emphasis on Biology and Social Sciences with emphasis on Biological Anthropology. Her research interests include the study of childhood and adolescente obesity, menarche age and associated determinnts of health.
